Food aid has resurfaced as a hot political issue in recent years. It is the
subject of heated debate in trade negotiations, and the discovery of genetically
modified organisms in food aid shipments has also sparked intense controversy in
donor and recipient countries alike. This talk will address the new politics of
food aid, looking in particular at current proposals for reform of food aid, as
well as the various forces that are working both for and against food aid reform.
