Volunteers

 

*	Template on garden structure and organization being constructed for
comment from garden coordinators.   If your garden is generally functioning
well and you could share some of your tricks of the trade, I'd love to hear
from you.  Please see below for my contact information. 
*	I have recruited a few University of Waterloo students to help in
the garden.  If you need help with clean up or other jobs around your garden
now is the time.  Please contact me and I will pass this information along
to the students.

*	The First Kitchener "Healing Garden Music Fest" - come and enjoy the
combined talents of some of the region's - and Canada's finest folk and
acoustic blues musicians, while helping out a truly wonderful cause. 100% of
the proceeds from this fabulous concert go to the creation of peaceful
garden patios for patients at cancer treatment centres.  Sunday October 5th,
2 pm. King Street Theatre, 36 King Street West, Kitchener. $17 in advance or
$22 at the door. Students /Seniors receive a $2 discount.  For more

*	Empowered Neighbourhoods: From Theory to Practice - Jim Diers,
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, Victoria Park Pavilion, 80 Schneider Avenue,
Kitchener. 12:00-4:30 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. $25 for afternoon session, evening
session free (Fee will be waived for community volunteers) -

*	"Let's Curb Pesticides" brown bag luncheon.  Tom Bird, Public Health
Planner from the Region of Waterloo Public Health will talk about natural
lawn care methods, and options for replacing grass with native and water
efficient plants. October 2, 12:05 - 12:55 p.m. Location: University of
Waterloo Campus, Room DC 1304. No charge. Please register through
UWRC at admmail.uwaterloo.ca.  There will be a master gardener at the workshop.

*	$$ So Where's the Green? $$, An exciting odyssey learning more about
sponsorship for Community Gardens.  Come see the garden and labyrinth and
learn from other garden coordinators and funders how to approach sponsors
and get what you need. Location:  St James United Church, 171 Sherwood Ave.
