[Garden] Garden Digest, Vol 37, Issue 31

Hi everyone,

I can also venture to the garden this evening, around 6:30pm, after returning home and feeding the family.  I won't be able to come tomorrow night.

In response to the discussion below, I also agree that we should 'mix-it' up a bit, which nights to meet at the garden.  Perhaps alternate every week, between Tues, Wed and Thursdays.   Not to mention Sunday meetings.

Perhaps Alicia and I can look to Ian's 'to do list' and if it isn't posted on the shed yet, let people know by tomorrow what we've accomplished.

Thanks, Zainab

Hi Gardeners,

I'm planning on going to the garden this Wednesday around 5pm. I tend to
stay for at least a couple of hours so please do come out and join me if you
want, I welcome the company :D.

Also, soil testing is being done next week Tuesday (May 5) at 1pm at Larry
Lamb's lab on UW campus (EV2 1029B and/or EV2 1033). Email me privately if
you think you can come out - many hands make light work. The testing should
take a couple of hours.

Cheers,
Alicia

Hi folks,

WPIRG's beginning of term volunteer meeting is coming up and the
garden will need a representative to try to win some new members!

It's happening at 5:00pm, Thursday, May 7 in the Multi-purpose Room
of the Student Life Centre. Alicia can be there until 5:30pm but will
have to leave. Would anyone be free to be there to give a brief talk
on the garden and be around for a little while to mingle with new
WPIRGers?

Cheers,
Evan

Ian,
I agree, we can meet any night we like. Wednesday's happen to
work for me, but people can meet when they like. I suggest that new
people make an initial effort to show up on days when more experienced
members show up, at least for the first while. As for the returning
members, please make an effort to greet new members. Last year we got
the impression that new people where not being given any guidance.

Great list, but I expect that we should not be pruning the trees. Does
anyone know,  how to prune a gooseberry bush?

There are non-toxic wasp drowning traps that can be fond in the garden
centre. I keep looking for them. The wasps seem to have seen through my
paper bag ruse.

Hi Alicia,

I may be able to come this afternoon (It's today, right?).
I would really like to meet the members, as I missed last week's meeting. Where is the garden located?

Thanks,

Carmi

That should get us going for the next couple of weeks. Perhaps we can
put this on a wiki somewhere (I assume wpirg has one we could possibly
use?) so that people can add to it as we go. Also, I will print it off
and hang it up in the shed. When a task is complete, we can cross it off
the list. When we see a new task that needs to be done, we can add it
in. Or, we can continue using the log book. I think we do need a master
list of 'things to be done' though

Anyway, that is my book for the day.
