From evan at wpirg.org Tue Dec 1 13:24:50 2009 From: evan at wpirg.org (Evan Coole) Date: Tue, 1 Dec 2009 13:24:50 -0500 Subject: [Garden] End of term info Message-ID: Hello everyone, Before the term raps up completely, there were a few things I wanted to let y'all know. The most important item I'd like to remind everyone of is that as a thank you to everyone for a term of hard work, WPIRG provides up to $40 for action group social! In the past groups have used this to offset the cost of having dinner out, communal refreshments for a party and more. Feel free to be creative with how you use it! If you'd like to do a group outing like bowling or mini-golf or want to subsidize supplies for a craft or cooking night that's fine with us. The only restrictions are your activity has to be within reason financially (no cruises or European excursions I'm afraid), accessible to all members (i.e. the event isn't exclusionary, is advertised well in advance and efforts made to accommodate those who wish to attend) and the nature of the event has to be decided at an action group meeting, approved by me or Raj and there is a form that must be filled out. Please talk to me if you need more info. There are also a few housekeeping matters to be attended to. If action groups with a drawer in the filling cabinet or a shelf could tidy up a bit and dispose of materials that aren't needed any more that would be very helpful. There are also the action group folders on the shared drive that could use a sorting through. Thanks to everyone for a great term! As he mentioned, there is red tape to get through (a form to be filled out, and a group meeting to decide upon the event.) My best suggestion at this point in the year would be that we keep it in mind for next term (Jan to April) and have one then. We could potentially have this as an agenda item on our February planning/budget meeting, and then be able to have food at our planting party. Hey all - some of you are already aware that I'm looking for an intern for next season, but I thought I'd send a slightly more formal request to keep your eyes open for fabulous people who might be interested in applying & steer them in my direction! I'm offering the internship through the CRAFT Ontario program, but they can apply directly to me. It's a room & board internship, with a stipend of ~$200/month. They'll be able to attend all the montly CRAFT gatherings & meet other interns/attend workshops that way. I'm pretty open to a range of responsibility levels, depending on what someone's looking for. Accommodations will be offered in a shared house in Kitchener with some really great folks - not far from my apartment. More info here: http://www.facebook.com/l/27814;www.fertilegroundcsa.com/internship.php Thanks so much - and feel free to pass this along to others who might know someone who might know someone who might just BE the right someone for me!
