[Garden] Thursday update/Sunday invitation

After getting DRENCHED on my way to the garden today I discovered some
bad news: somebody has discovered how delicious our kohlrabi and
cabbages are. This is kind of sad because the fencing was pretty solid
around the kohlrabi. We still have a crop but many of the big leaves
are gone. Unfortunately I think cabbages may be done for the season.
For some reason our visitors do not seem to like brussels sprouts
(yet).

Also alarming is the state of our beautiful peas. They are shriveling
up and I am not sure why. I wonder whether fat mice are nibbling on
them.

In better news, last Sunday Britton and I discovered yet more
asparagus! Ian and Candace found that the asparagus they planted from
seed came up, and Britton found the crowns he planted (!?) had come up
as well.

We are also being overwhelmed by beet greens (I am thinning as quickly
as I can, which is a delicious task) and turnip greens. Britton said
that he might try to come Friday to get some greens (and lettuces?)
for Food Not Bombs, which is pretty exciting.

Salvador came by today. Together we put in a couple of fenceposts
(using up our non-pressure-treated supply) and started putting fence
along the side of the garden. This work can be continued on Sunday.

Speaking of which, you should all come out Sunday! The bindweed is in
bloom all over. It is so beautiful you will cry.
