Everyone,

Thanks to those who came out! My dad was very grateful to see so many
faces of people interested in the science and the art behind herbalism!

In the shed at the garden, you will find 3 handouts that were presented
(at least the remaining ones). Feel free to take one.

DISCLAIMER:

Working with herbs is as much an art as it is a science. Using herbs
for their medicinal use should be done under the guidance of a health
care practitioner. Using them for their culinary uses, well, I suggest
reading a cookbook =)

Certain herbs mentioned in the notes can be extremely harmful if not
handled carefully (Foxglove is only to be used by a licensed health care
practitioner. It's on the list because it's in my Dad's garden. Yarrow
would be other one I would directly caution about). Again, the best
approach is to consult a health care practitioner on the subject who is
trained in the use of herbs.

Also: Some of the herbs mentioned are not local to this climate region.
These likely have a higher probability to react oddly in our bodies than
those herbs which are native to the area. If you do happen to have a
reaction, start drinking water (purified/filtered water would be
preferred). A phrase that I've heard my parents say often is "The
solution to pollution is dilution." I hope those of you who had some
Gingko and had some interesting reactions are feeling better today!

I will be getting an electronic copy of the "Herbs - What are they Good
For" shortly, and will pass it along to those on the mailing list. If
someone wants to scan the other two, that would be good as well! (Might
be something worth-while to archive?) I'll also send along a picture of
Foxglove which I have, since the flower is quite lovely, but only comes
up every other year.

Some others took notes, and wrote down some more detailed information
about some things, and will hopefully reply to this with their notes.

Thanks and regards,

Pete
