[Garden] Locates/Hose

I went to the garden this afternoon and put in stakes with white flags
for the locates. I actually included an area that I don't think we
will fence -- namely the plot we were just given this year. I figure
it is better to get more locates done than redoing the process. (It
is arguable whether locates are necessary at all, but Plant Ops
requested them.)

I have not phoned Rogers yet. I will attempt to fax a hand-drawn map
to Waterloo North Hydro tomorrow, and I hope to phone Rogers as well.

I measured the existing hose. The shorter thinner hose on the spindle
is 50ft long, which is too short for our needs (and will get worse
when the fencing is in). I collected the Wal-Mart gift cards from the
community garden fest from the WPIRG office, and I intend to use the
$50 to get as much hose as I can (preferably without giving Wal-Mart
an additional penny). The earliest I can do this would be Saturday,
but it is likely that I won't make the trip until next week (maybe
Tuesday).

Ideally I would get a single hose that is long and has a wide
diameter, so we can replace the narrow 50ft hose. If that can't be
done within budget then I will get the longest hose I can and we can
just attach it to the spindle.

If you have strong objections to this then speak up soon. If you feel
that using these gift certificates is unethical (even though Wal-Mart
already has the $50) then put your money where your mouth is; if
people on this list raise $50 for a new hose then I would happily vote
to tear up the Wal-Mart gift cards and save myself the trip to
Fairview Mall. (I would probably patronize Home Hardware instead,
because even though the hose will still be made in China the staff
at Home Hardware tend to be really helpful.)
