[Garden] Gardening today

We did not water today in the hopes that the meterologist shamans
would call down rain for us. If the shamans do not come through then
our garden could use a good soaking over the next couple of days.

Our groundhoggy friends paid us a visit. Peas were nibbled; unprotected
brassicas were decimated. We put up some temporary (?) fencing around
individual beds to protect some of the survivors. There is kale and
cauliflower still in the war zone, and I think they will be
casualties.

I don't know whether it is frost or disease, but our cucumbers and
squashes are dying and our tomatoes, okra, and basil look sickly.

Some mysterious fencing appeared in the shed. I don't know where it
came from. Do you?

The new squash bed is being overrun with grass. We could really use a
few extra weeders, because the problem will soon get out of control.

On a more positive note, the row cover has been effective with the
lettuces, which are getting quite large. We harvested some lettuce
today. The brassicas behind fencing are looking good, spinach and
chard is coming up, and the potatoes are peeking out.
