[Garden] Gardening today

Hi I saw the Squash bed with all the grass in it and though that it really could use some kind of organic mulch to feed the soil and keep the grass population low. I think leaf waste, or straw would be ideal, I do not know where to get quantities of it though. Do you?

Perhaps I could spread the compost pile over the area thickly enough to keep the grass down, any objections?
