Hi Valerie, my sister is one of the researchers. Would any of your
friends be willing to participate in this study? Thanks! Barb

Wilfrid Laurier University

Department of Psychology

Generativity, Families, and Environmentalism: Studying Views on the
Future of the Earth in Young, Midlife and Older Adults

We would like to invite you to participate in a study, which will
include approximately 150 participants.  The purpose of this study is
to examine people’s sense of self and involvement in terms of the
environment, community, and work.  We are interested in how this sense
of self may change over the course of adulthood, and what some of the
key factors may be in people’s involvement in these domains from their
own point of view.  If it is possible, we would like you to come to
Wilfrid Laurier University for one session that lasts approximately 2
hours.  If you are unable to come to Laurier, then we may be able to
meet at a location that is more convenient for you.

During this session we will be asking you to tell personal stories
about important life experiences in three different areas in which you
may be involved: the environment, the community, and your work.  After
the interview you will be asked to respond to a series of
questionnaires, which will ask about your background, values,
identity, and your relationships with others.  Once you have completed
the study you will be debriefed, at which point you will learn more
about the purpose of the study.  As a token of our appreciation you
will receive a $50 cheque for your participation.  The information
that you provide will be used as a core element in Dr. Pratt and Dr.
Norris’ research – Mike Pratt is a Professor in the department of
Psychology at Wilfrid Laurier, and Joan Norris is the Dean of Graduate
Studies at Wilfrid Laurier.  More information on our research and our
team can be found on our webpage: http://www.wlu.ca/t2u/EFG/index.htm.

Please feel free to contact us at threegenerations at wlu.ca or call us
at 519-884-1970 (Ext. 2668) if you have any questions or concerns.  If
you are interested in participating in our study please contact us or
give us your email address or phone number below, and we will provide
more information so you can decide if you would like to participate.
We look forward to speaking with you soon,

Dr. Michael Pratt                              Dr. Joan Norris,

Professor                                           Dean of Graduate Studies
