By the way I spread some edible wild mushroom spores around the garden, so hopefully my contravertial wood chips will become a beautiful food producing area in their own rights.

Project Update

Our Trillium Funding has sadly come
to an end. My role will be ending officially on November 12th. Support
for community gardens will be resorting back to Carol Popovic at the Region of
Waterloo Public Health. Carol can be reached by phone at 519 883 2004 ext. 5336
or by email at plcarol at region.waterloo.on.ca.
It was a real pleasure to work with you all. You are all an inspiration of
the great work that can be accomplished with each of us taking a part to
contribute to a better world. I have enjoyed meeting you all and wish you all
the best with your gardens in the future!

Waterloo Region Food Summit: What are we doing about the hidden hunger in our community? On November
16-18, 2009, world leaders will be meeting in Rome for the United Nations Food Summit to
address the hunger crisis which affects one-sixth of humanity. At the
same time, residents and leaders in Waterloo Region will come together to
discuss the challenges to accessing food in our community, share ideas, and
decide what to do to address the situation. Please join us in this important

Opportunities for
Actions: An Urban Agriculture Symposium. The Symposium aims to not only inspire action but address
key issues and provide connections that enable the Urban Agriculture movement
to advance. The morning will start with keynote presentation from Dr. Karen Landman, inspiring
us with stories of urban agriculture projects across North
America, to be followed by a panel discussion from those working
in the field of urban agriculture. During the afternoon, participants will take
part in an interactive facilitation process to identify common barriers, seek
feasible solutions and set achievable actions. A local lunch and snack will be

Increasing Physical Activity in Waterloo. The
Waterloo Region Active Living Network is a hosting a forum to develop an action
plan to increase access to physical activity opportunities in the Region of
Waterloo. This event is open to physical activity promoters, providers & advocates.
It will be held at the Lions Arena, 20
Rittenhouse Road, Kitchener
(Block Line & Strasburg Road), Tuesday November 24, 2009 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
