gardens to rest for another year we can start reflecting on all the happenings
of the season. On behalf of the Region of Waterloo Community Garden Council,
we would like to extend an invitation to a morning of exploration. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

opportunity to share experiences from your garden, learn more about exciting
community gardens in other cities, and allow us to start thinking how we could
bring these ideas to the Region of Waterloo. This will also be a chance
to follow-up from the focus groups that were held in the spring. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calisto MT"'>In the Region of Waterloo we
had two new gardens start up in 2008. We also heard from many garden
representatives they were able to fill all their plots for the first time in a
long time. Yet more gardens have been able to attract diverse members of
their community to their gardens, and many have had success at finding
donations for their gardens. We also heard some people state how the
gardens helped decrease crime in their neighbourhood. Regionally, there
is a suggestion of policies that will help to provide more support to the
community gardens. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calisto MT"'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>

has hundred’s of people waiting for plots, gardens with windmills,
fountains, totem poles, and raised beds made of cob! They have engaged
local artists, musicians, environmental groups, and neighbours into their
gardens with great success. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

have incorporated labyrinths, peace poles, cob ovens, children’s plots,
communal herb and flower gardens, and school education into their
