Hey Alicia and gardeners, the walk sounds like a of of fun, so I'll be attending. However, I'm new to the garden, so I won't be able to expound upon the history of the garden so much. If someone could send me a fact sheet I'd be willing to memorize it though, otherwise we'll need someone more knowledgeable.
(It's Ashlea, from UWSP; helped with Food Awareness Day, etc.)
I'm coordinating a 'Natural Heritage' walk for Sunday at 3:30pm as part of the Jane (Jacob's) walks in KW. The idea of a Jane's Walk is to get people outside; exploring their neighborhoods, streets, parks, and communities; telling personal stories and sharing culture and history (see www.janeswalk.net/participating_cities/waterloo ). I am planning a route from Waterloo Park up along Laurel Creek and stopping at the Dorney Gardens on campus and continuing up to Columbia Lake. Some talking points include native flora and invasive a species, the natural history of waterloo park and UW (as agricultural lands, etc.), plus some fun stories. I was hoping the walk could end around the Community Garden so people could have the opportunity to learn more about that too. It would be great if I could either gather some information from you or someone to share about the garden, or even if someone was able to attend the walk. Let me know your thoughts on this if you can!

Thanks, and hope to hear from you,
